About
Freya Wynn-Jones is a director, singer and animateur working across a wide range of professional, educational and community settings. With a particular interest in the relationship between theatre and vocal art, Freya works on numerous collaborations to write, compose and devise new work.

Developing Your Creative Practice
Freya was delighted to receive a DYCP grant from Arts Council England to support her growing interest in composing for the stage. The grant has afforded her the chance to explore her composition practise through her theatre company Flock Theatre Makers as well as exploring Live Looping and it's function as a theatrical device. With this grant, Freya also develops Flock's next show for Christmas 2023.

Creation Station - Flock Theatre Makers
A new project taking place on the Bluefin Children's ward at Worthing Hospital. Flock will gently R&D the story The Girl and The Dinosaur whilst bringing cross arts activities to young people and their carers on the ward.

Flock Theatre bring the Lizzy Stewart's award winning picture book to life again with a studio tour including dates in London, Leicester, Cambridge and Taunton.

Royal Opera House - Create and Sing Director
The Royal Opera House's Create and Sing programme provides:

  • a creative learning programme, created with teachers, providing songs for kids in primary schools across England.
  • classroom-based and digital activities, with strong curriculum links, to give better understanding of singing and opera for kids, unlocking their imagination and creativity.
  • teacher training, classroom films, lesson plans and resources to use in ways that suit the needs of the teachers and their students.

Changemakers - Glyndebourne Youth Opera
Freya will help recruit and build an exciting new Youth Opera company at Glyndebourne for those aged 14-19. This project will explore arts and activism and how we can use opera and the arts to activate change in the world around us.

Freya returns to direct the latest in Aurora's Far Far Away series to be shared at Kings Place, London.

Once Upon a Whispering Wood - Composer/Maker
Flock Theatre Makers will be making Theatre Royal Brighton's (ATG) festive show this year for families and young people. This show was R&D'd alongside members of Voices in Exile in 2022 and we're delighted to take it further with the Theatre Royal this Christmas.

Catch a Sea Star - Seaglass Arts
Freya will be remounting a production of Seaglass Arts' Catch A Sea Star an opera for early years families. The work will be touring the UK, Hamburg and Luxemborg.

Freya runs the Brighton branch of Choir With No Name, which opened in the summer of 2018. The choir is open to people who have experienced homelessness and other marginalised groups.

Since 2016, Freya has run the Voicings Collective, interrogating the democracy of devising to create new works of classical music-theatre.
